IG Metall is a participatory union. Our members enjoy many benefits. Our brochure “Good People. Strong Benefits” provides information on this.

We have a presence in over 145 local offices and support our works council members, shop stewards, youth and apprentice representatives, and representatives for people with severe disabilities. Here on the ground, we discuss demands, develop strategies, and support workplace initiatives.

We’re also the first point of contact for members right here on the ground: Our experts answer questions about all aspects of the workplace—whether it’s about correct pay grading, reviewing employment contracts or performance evaluations, getting help with termination, or verifying pension decisions. IG Metall competently stands by its members, advising them and representing them out of court—and, when necessary, in court as well.

A concise summary of our achievements

The IG Metall brochure “Good People. Strong Services” provides a concise summary of our most important services and is available for download in 17 languages:

Kelvion plans to relocate its profitable heat exchanger production in Wilchwitz (Thuringia) to the west. After nearly four weeks on strike, employees and IG Metall have reached a collective bargaining agreement that includes generous severance packages. A new investor intends to take over at least part of the operation.
