2026 Collective Bargaining Round for Metal Fabrication and Precision Engineering Higher Wages in the Metal Fabrication and Precision Engineering Sectors in Southwest Germany

IG Metall Baden-Württemberg and the Metal Industry Employers’ Association have reached a collective bargaining agreement. Approximately 30,000 employees in the metal fabrication and precision engineering sectors in Baden-Württemberg will benefit from this agreement. 

The details of the agreement

Employees will receive a compensation bonus of 9 x 85 euros gross from May 2026 through January 2027. Apprentices and dual-track students will receive half the compensation bonus, while part-time employees will receive a pro-rated amount. 

Starting in February 2027, wages will also increase by 2.7 percent in accordance with the pay scale.

Maximilian Locher, chief negotiator for IG Metall Baden-Württemberg: “The economic situation is tense; many companies and employees are under pressure. This made it all the more important for us to reach an agreement in these difficult times that recognizes our colleagues’ performance while also providing companies with planning certainty. This was not an easy agreement to reach, but rather the result of tough negotiations on equal footing and high participation in the workplaces.”

The collective bargaining agreement has a term of 17 months and is valid through September 30, 2027.
