Be honest: As a newly elected works council member, do you know your rights and responsibilities, and do you know how and where to find the right answers to the many questions that arise in day-to-day workplace situations? Then take part in our introductory seminars on works council work in your region.



What will you learn?
In the regional introductory seminars on works council work, you’ll learn everything you need to know to carry out your duties as a works council member in your company:

 

  • You’ll learn about the most important tasks, duties, and rights of the works council.
  • You’ll learn how to exercise key rights to information and consultation.
  • You’ll make use of the protective and organizational responsibilities of works council members while adhering to the obligations set forth in the Works Constitution Act.
  • You’ll take advantage of the opportunities for influence created by recent case law.
  • You will explore the roles of labor unions and employer associations. You will learn the fundamentals of an effective and participatory approach to works council work, including information gathering and simple working methods.

In short: You will explore your role as a newly elected works council member and will thus be able to meet the demands placed on you with greater confidence. A key factor here is receiving sound guidance on structuring your continuing education. You’ll also network with other works council members and the local IG Metall team. Additionally, the introductory seminar provides information on IG Metall’s further educational and advisory services for works council members.
