Starting October 1, temporary workers in the wood and plastics industries, as well as in the textile and apparel industries, will now also receive collective bargaining-based industry surcharges starting on their first day of assignment at a client company. IG Metall secured this in collective bargaining negotiations with the temporary employment associations BAP and iGZ. Previously, industry surcharges were only paid after six weeks.
IG Metall had previously secured industry-specific bonuses for temporary workers in the metal and electrical industries starting from their first day of work.
The industry-specific wage supplements under the collective bargaining agreement are added on top of the temporary agency worker wage rate. For example: On top of the collective bargaining wage of 13 euros per hour for the lowest temporary agency worker pay grade (Pay Grade 1), temporary agency workers in the wood and plastics industries receive an industry-specific wage supplement of 7 percent starting on their first day—bringing their pay to at least 13.91 euros.
The industry-specific bonuses continue to increase in stages as the duration of assignment increases.

Inflation Adjustment Bonuses Also for Temporary Workers
As in the metal and electrical industries, inflation adjustment premiums (IAP) are now also available for temporary workers in the textile and apparel industry. Temporary workers assigned to these sectors will receive up to 1,150 euros net in inflation adjustment premiums in 2024, paid in monthly installments—up to the same amount as permanent employees at the client company.
Temporary agency workers are eligible for an IAP if they have been employed by their staffing agency for at least five months and have been assigned to the client company for at least one month. The amount of the IAP is based on the duration of the assignment.
Part-time employees are also entitled to a pro-rated inflation adjustment bonus.
For temporary workers in the wood and plastics industry, it has been agreed to establish an IAP as soon as an IAP has also been agreed upon for permanent employees in the wood and plastics industry. Collective bargaining negotiations in the wood and plastics industry will begin in early December.
