IG Metall has reached a collective bargaining agreement with the Lower Saxony Trade Association for Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning on behalf of the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning trade (SHK trade) in Lower Saxony. The approximately 35,000 workers in the industry will receive pay increases in two stages.
The details of the agreement
Starting January 1, 2026, wages and salaries will increase by 2.5 percent, and by an additional 2.9 percent starting October 1, 2026.
For the months of October through December 2025, employees will receive a one-time gross payment of 250 euros, which will be paid out with the January 2026 paycheck. Apprentices are excluded. Part-time employees will receive a prorated payment.
Apprentice wages will increase on January 1, 2026, and October 1, 2026, by the following monthly amounts:
- In the 1st year of training: 25 euros
- In the second year of training: 25 euros
- In the 3rd year of training: 40 euros
- In the 4th year of training: 40 euros
Compensation for on-call duty will increase from the current 1.92 euros to 5.80 euros per hour effective January 1, 2026.
The collective bargaining agreement is valid for 24 months, through September 30, 2027.
