Union Convention: Day 4 Recap For a good life, from vocational training to retirement

We’re right in the middle of deliberating on the motions. Youth and retirement—these are the issues that are on the minds of IG Metall and, consequently, the delegates on the fourth day of the union convention. In its motion, IG Metall Youth calls for greater involvement in collective bargaining disputes, for safeguarding vocational training, for strengthening the transition to permanent employment after training, and for a disproportionately large increase in training stipends.

On the topic of pensions, votes were also held on motions calling for stronger company-based and statutory pension plans. Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil promises that the Collective Bargaining Compliance Act will be enacted before the end of this year and thanks his colleagues at IG Metall.

We’re covering every day of the union convention with our film crew and summarizing: How were the debates conducted? What were the most important topics? What decisions were made for the future of IG Metall? See for yourself.
