Labor relations, labor policy, and work design from a social science perspective: Topics like these are at the heart of the “Business Administration” bachelor’s program atthe University of Labor. The program teaches the fundamentals of economics, law, organization, and management—always, and this is what sets it apart, with a focus on employees.
This employee-oriented program was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Martin Allespach, Director and Head of theEuropean Academy of Laborat Goethe University Frankfurt, and selected representatives from business and society.
Who is the program intended for?
It is tailored to the needs of professionals and emerging leaders from labor unions and nonprofit organizations, works councils and staff councils, as well as individuals who work in management or human resources or who aspire to a position in these fields.
How is the program organized?
The program is designed to be integrated with professional life. This means that throughout the program, students work on a project addressing a topic from their daily professional practice. The new knowledge gained from the program can be directly applied to the project.
The in-person seminars take place as three-day seminar blocks (Thursday through Saturday) every six to seven weeks at the House of Labour in Frankfurt am Main. The seminars are supplemented by three virtual sessions and guided self-study phases.
How long does the program last?
The program is designed to last 36 months. It is possible to shorten the program if you have previously completed an 11-month continuing education program at the European Academy of Labor.
What are the admission requirements?
- Abitur, general university entrance qualification, subject-specific university entrance qualification, or
- a degree from an Academy of Public Administration and Business, or
- a degree from the European Academy of Labor (EAdA), or
- Master craftsman, technician, business administrator, or continuing education or professional development for careers in healthcare, social care, or education , or
- A degree from a technical college or related vocational training in a recognized trade (2 years) and work experience following completion of training (2 years)*
- and successful completion of the application and admission process
*In this case, an additional university entrance exam is required.
