PRESS STATEMENT thyssenkrupp: Employees are supporting the restructuring

Jürgen Kerner: “The employee representatives support a restructuring of the thyssenkrupp (tk) Group that focuses on the materials and industrial goods businesses. We expect that, in addition to pursuing an independent path, consolidation options under tk’s leadership will also be examined for Steel and Marine Systems. We reject a holding company that dabbles as an amateur in a wide variety of markets and is now only fit to be a junior partner in the core industrial business of steel.

The Group plans to divest businesses in the new “Multi-Tracks” segment or seek strategic partnerships. The problem is not the individual business units themselves. On the contrary! Hardworking and competent colleagues are at work here at all locations. The problem is the lack of expertise among the group’s leadership in these areas. That is why the priority is to find new, reputable owners or partners, to safeguard existing social and labor standards, and to give the affected employees a sense of hope for the future.”
