The battery cell is the central performance component in an electric vehicle; this is what determines competitiveness. In-house production secures expertise in key parts of the value chain and avoids dependence on Asian manufacturers. This is essential for the innovative strength of the German automotive industry. Policymakers must promote and facilitate such decisions by companies. This also includes driving the energy transition forward.”
