PRESS STATEMENT Caps on gas and electricity prices were our union demands

Jörg Hofmann, President of IG Metall: The gas and electricity price caps were our union’s demands. Hundreds of thousands of our colleagues have fought for this. It is also true that subsidies for industry are tied to clear commitments regarding location and transformation. Where these commitments have not yet been made, we must demand them now. We are pushing for the rapid implementation of the commission’s proposals. However, we also demand further relief measures should the gas and electricity price caps not be introduced as early as January.
