PRESS STATEMENT Fair Funding for Healthcare

"A solidarity-based reform of the healthcare system must be on the agenda. Sound and equitable financing can only be achieved if everyone contributes to the statutory health insurance system and higher-income earners contribute their fair share. But spending by the pharmaceutical industry, doctors, and hospitals must also be scrutinized. Fair financing and a critical review of spending can improve the quality of healthcare while simultaneously reducing costs for the majority of insured individuals. Increasing copayments unilaterally for insured individuals will only lead to a two-tier healthcare system."
