“The announced special fund and the announced measures show that policymakers have understood that swift and decisive action is needed now. The pace and decisiveness of the parties engaged in exploratory talks are a positive sign for the near future.  

IG Metall has long placed the need for substantial investment in infrastructure, the energy transition, industry, bridges, rail, roads, and education at the center of its policy demands. We therefore clearly welcome this latest initiative. The economic, social, and geopolitical situation calls for foresight. This also means that investments in technical and industrial infrastructure, security, and defense must not come at the expense of social benefits. Investments in the future are essential for sustainable jobs and, consequently, for a functioning community and a strong democracy.”
